Dr. Calista Ming is a Board Certified Optometrist with advanced training in specialty contact lenses. Dr. Ming received her Bachelor's degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and History from Nova Southeastern University. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the prestigious University of California-Berkeley School of Optometry and graduated with honors, having been awarded membership into the Beta Sigma Kappa honors society for all four years. Prior to graduating, she received her internship training at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She completed her Residency training in Primary Care with an emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Dr. Ming is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society (F.S.L.S.) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O).
Dr. Ming’s passion is fitting Scleral, Hybrid, Rigid Gas Permeable, Orthokeratology (Ortho-K), Prosthetic and other specialty contact lenses. She speaks nationally and educates other optometrists on specialty contact lenses. She is a member of the International Keratoconus Academy (IKA) and National Keratoconus Foundation (NKCF).
Dr. Ming was born and raised in Guyana, South America and is passionate about international and national optometric community service work. She has planned and volunteered for numerous Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) missions. Dr. Ming resides in the South Bay with her husband and two kids, together they enjoy skiing, scuba diving, and traveling the world.
